My first paper as a grad student won't be the finest I've ever taken, but it's over and that's that. It's probably useful to start getting used to feeling stupid, all the more as I've gotten into the habit of categorizing all knowledge into two groups:
  1. The stuff that I more or less know, which must have been so easy that it doesn't count
  2. The stuff that I can't even pretend to know, and which all contributes to the feeling of stupidity
On a happier note, it was the module I was least sure of, and the one which I got an average CA score for, so the tough part's over. Pattern Recognition/Machine Learning and Fundamentals in Algorithms will hopefully be better, although for the latter I'm afraid it will be heavy on flashes of inspiration; some of the answers to the tutorial questions seemed (too) obvious, while others took the better part of a whole day, certainly more than the two hours available during an exam.

Props to Mr. Ham for helping me out here, with a system that may yet become widespread:
