TwoYearOldNephewGPT*: Yes. Me: I think he skipped an unnecessary step there... One of the funniest in JB and Singapore, and some say New Hampshire [N.B. Unfortunately, will be away when Russell Peters drops by Singapore...] As I get It's pretty refreshing to watch Chieng slaughter some sacred cows here... or maybe not even all that sacred, from how the audience were happily into it (though, publish the very same sentiments in some "respectable" [mainstream/FAKE NEWS] media, and watch the woke mob batter down the doors). That said, a little comment to begin with: 財神爷 (referenced about 2:54) is probably far more commonly translated as the "God of Wealth/Fortune" instead of "Money" (because why limit yourself to inflationary fiat? We accept all major credit cards, cashier's orders, Treasury bills, real estate title deeds and most other negotiable instruments on request), but this is really a minor nitpick to what was surely a conscious choice to keep the theme going, in an otherwise fabulous set. Chieng starts off pretty darn strong too, in asserting that (about 0:30) "When Asian parents want their kids to be doctors, helping people is like [on?] the bottom of the list of reasons... it's about the money and the prestige, right?"**. Well, about this, this is probably not a question for polite social settings, because what do you want me to say? But look, it's no use getting too cynical about such things lah - doctors also have to eat, right, if he's good at medicine then he should get paid his worth for practising it, that's all; I'd rather pay an actually competent doctor that knows his stuff, than "well he really wants to help and tried very hard"... and really sitting with SJWs who insist that doctors/lawyers/other professionals (category notably often coincidentally not including the worthy activist's own career) should do what they do out of the goodness of their heart, induces a bloody headache after not very long at all. In any case, it appears to be increasingly the case that practising medicine (i.e. not including the Big Pharma mindfuckery side) is frankly not an especially efficient way of getting rich these days. Quite expectedly, the medical doctor thread has been one of the most popular over at the Salary.sg forums for at least the last decade, and very honestly, hitting five figures a month only about ten years after graduation (if with a slight bump announced just last week) is a... modest return for the cramming, workload and responsibility involved. Anyway, 恭喜发财! [*Google indeed having just brought back founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin for the prospective rescue act; but frankly, this is not so much a technological issue, as an ideological one] [**Not applicable to all my lovely colleagues, obviously] Next: Half-Time Appetizer
